Jedi mind magic

Baxter on Magic: by George H Baxter. This book has alot of tips and tricks in it on playing Magic The Gathering. I can remember going to a tournament and the head judge saying nobody use these tricks. The vast majority of the book is old decklist and playing examples. The tips George gives are just as valid today. The biggest tip is to pay attention during your opponents turn and don't let your mind wonder.

Attacking could be the death of you in mtg

The best lesson I watched today involved an all out attack. If successful the opponent would have lost. The other player had an instant creature kill spell. They played it and survived. The person then won during their attack. The point is beware of the crackback. Sometimes slow rolling the win, is correct.

six for one

Beware the overloaded mizzium mortars. I just watch a match where Shenhar got six for oned and lost. I am tired of watching mono blue and mono black. Its nice to see other decks. The mazes end deck was also cool to watch on camera. The great part about a rogue build. Your opponent has no idea what to sideboard.

Legally Blind mtg player

I just have to say, Travis Boese at GP Vancouver went 9-1 in the first ten rounds. The most impressive part is Travis is legally blind. To be able to play a card game(magic the gathering) and do that well is truly an inspiration. I was totally cheering for Travis. Great job!

Packrat is some good

Packrat has won every game I have seen it used in on camera except one. This is a very broken card. Every person playing black should be using it. It is a two casting cost with power and toughness equal to the number of rats you control. You can pay three and discard a card to make another packrat. The card just does not lose if you fully commit.

Think, before you counterspell that counterspell

The play I watched today that was most interesting to me came from Josh Utter-Layton. He was playing Hayne. He played Assemble the Legion with mana left and a Counterspell in hand. The assemble got countered but he did not counter the counter. Instead he waited and counterspelled the Elsbeth that came on Hayne's turn. He played a second assemble next turn. Sometimes its better to hold onto those counterspells.

Mono blue:biggest win mtg

Thassa and the mono blue deck keep on rolling. Thassa is "the" win card in that deck. You have to target Thassa with everything you have. Then you are essentially dealing with a mono blue weenie deck. I just watched two games on camera were Thassa won again. Unblockable 5/5 will kill you very quickly.
