gatecrash

I think gatecrash is a great set. I bought more gatecrash cards than any set lately. The amount of quality cards is very high and that is what I look at. How many cards will make it into my decks? I admit, I wanted gates, but there are good cards from each guild to help your decks.

exile it

Control decks need cards that remove creatures from the game. Why kill a creature when you can exile it. It stops creatures from coming back or scavaging. Anything that exiles something is good.

death by swamps

My first magic tournament I played green and black. I took on a marogeddon deck. I didnt see any enchantments or artifacts in game 1. I sided out my destruction. In game two he played karma, I stripped my own swamps. Remember to consider the sideboard cards of your opponent.

family magic night

My family loves Magic. One night eight of us were playing around the kitchen table. I died on the first turn. I begged, I pleaded, I still died. I was too good, whatever that meant. They didnt trust me. I was lightning bolted 7 times. Now all I hear is, remember that time we killed you on turn one.

luck

Your deck can be perfect and still lose. I had a green blue deck with all the best cards that always lost because of luck. I was mana hosed, mana saturated, wrong color or wrong spells. The deck was just unbelievably unlucky. I also had a red blue deck that could do no wrong. Whatever card I needed I drew. The deck never lost and never got mana screwed it was incredible. I dont know what determines the luck factor of a deck but if I find out ill let you know.

Early turn kills

A turn 5 kill in the game of magic is average versus an opponent who does nothing. Anything that can speed you up to a turn 4 kill is even better. There are tons of ways to get a turn 4 kill. A turn 3 kill is harder but still possible and turn 2 or 1 kills are mostly luck. Aim to make your deck kill consistently on turn 4 and you will win alot of magic games.

Math Magic

I have studied the math of Magic, trying to come up with a formula for deck construction. I tried 24 land 9 1,2,3,4 drops and that formula works very well. I try to include 4 card drawers and four extra mana producers. I found a formula that works even better. 5 1 drops, 9 2 and 3 drops and 13 4 drops. Using this formula, after turn 4 I can drop a higher casting cost card every turn.

cluestones mtg

Cluestones help your decks a number of ways. The beginning of a game you are mana bound. They help give you more mana. They also help with mana screw by fixing your mana. In the late game they let you draw more cards when you are card bound. They also help thin your deck. Why play 60 cards when you can play 56!
